About Me
Hi! My name is Meredith, and I’m all about the written word. I studied English and editing at Brigham Young University, where I developed my passion for prose. As an editor, my favorite thing to do is help others see the potential of their writing and feel confident with their finished product.
I have worked on full-length books and global magazines, and I write creatively on the side. Outside of writing and editing, you can find me hiking, skiing, and playing lots and lots of board games.
My favorite genres of literature are sci-fi, fantasy, and historical fiction, but I also have a fondness for nonfiction memoirs and personal and family histories.
Why Fiction Editing?
Like many book-loving fanatics, I grew up reading books like The Hobbit each night and continually sought out the library as a safe space. My parents were both creative types who worked in the film industry, and they got me talking and thinking about stories and their power from a young age.
These days I read just about anything. But here are a few of my current favorite books in no particular order:
- The Call of the Wild by Jack London
- Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
- The Arc of a Scythe series by Neal Shusterman
- Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys
- The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy
- My Lady Jane by Brodi Ashton, Cynthia Hand, and Jodi Meadows
- Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones
I know how nerve-wracking yet exciting it is to put your work out there, and I love seeing each writer’s voice shine. My mission as an editor is to preserve your voice and help you accomplish your writing goals. Have questions about how I can help? I’d love to talk!
Why Family History?
My interest in record keeping began at a young age. My parents used to tell me stories about family members I had never met, such as my grandfather, who passed away when my father was in his twenties. I’ve been fascinated by how stories connect us ever since.
In college, I worked in the special collections department of my college library. That experience gave me first-hand experience with precious personal records. I have since helped others preserve their own family stories by collecting and editing oral histories and family history books.
I love getting to meet new writers and creators, and I bring a personal, caring touch to each of my projects. Are you looking for someone to collaborate with you on a project? Let’s talk!
